I am writing to announce a change in personnel in the ACT Recovery College (RC). Following the unexpected resignation of Karen Leary as Manager of the RC, I am very pleased to announce that Dianna Smith has agreed to move into this role.
Some of you may know Dianna from the MHCC ACT Policy team. Dianna led the ground work for the RC Trial between July and December last year and has been supporting the RC team in various ways over the last couple of months. Dianna was also one of the applicants for the role of Manager of the Recovery College and although found suitable, narrowly missed out on the position.
Dianna has a great skill set from a career in both public service and the community sector. She has the managerial experience, policy and project experience, and solid grounding in mental health and recovery to succeed. I am confident that she will be an outstanding leader of the ACT Recovery College.
The circumstances around Karen’s resignation impacted on many of us here at MHCC ACT, but none more than Karen. I want to acknowledge Karen's history with the RC project, in particular as Project Officer for the Recovery College Design project which set up both the foundations for the RC and the community enthusiasm and support for it. This was crucial to securing the ACT Government funding for a trial of the College. I also want to thank Karen for the tremendous amount of work she did over the last couple of months, which will be invaluable going forward.
The Recovery College timeline remains for the first course to be delivered in late April in the Recovery College premises in North Lyneham. With Dianna on board and working closely with Education Manager Tessa Cleradin, I am confident we are still on track to meet this timeline and I look forward to seeing many of you at the ACT Recovery College very soon.
