How lovely is it to hear about the changes to the COVID Restrictions that are starting to take effect and that will continue to slowly allow us more social interaction around our community.
Yesterday the ACT Government announced more measures that will allow the community to start integrating back into a some sort of normality and for many will help to break down the isolation they have been experiencing recently. From midnight Friday, we will be able to have gatherings of up to 10 people both indoors and outdoors, some restrictions easing at cafes and restaurants as well as pub and clubs with dine in options returning, playgrounds and outdoor fitness areas are once again opened, community centres and libraries as well as places of worship are able to start be re-commencing and of course, schools are starting to return from next week.
With some of these re-introductions happening, it's an exciting time to look forward to connecting physically again with friends and loved ones, whilst still maintaining our 1.5 metre rule. I know myself, I am excited to be able to take my kids to the playground, stop in at my favourite coffee shop and have a decent coffee as well as looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in person that I have missed. What are you most looking forward to?
With some of these changes coming in to effect, we have reviewed how we will manage our Social Connection Sessions. Due to the pressing commitments on the staff at the College, we regret to advise that we will be scaling back the amount of Social Calls we had previously offered for this Term. This is to ensure that we are dedicating the time to building a bigger and stronger calendar for you all in Term 3.
The sessions that will continue to be held are our Thursday evening 'Creative Cooking with John & Ariel' . This week the guys are showing you how to make Spaghetti Bolognese, garlic bread and a salad, as well as showing you how to use left over Bolognese sauce to make lasagna. Check out the recipes on our website here
The other session will be our 'Coffee & Chat' which is on a Friday morning. This is a lovely way to connect at the end of the week, get to know the staff at the College a bit better, have a few laughs with the odd online game of Bingo or Home Scavenger Hunt or perhaps a few really bad dad jokes. Mostly though, it's just about connecting socially.
If you are a former student, we would love you to call in and let us know how you have been going, if you are a current student who is taking some of our Term 2 courses - pop on and tell us what you are enjoying most. If you are a prospective student interested in starting at the College, we highly recommend you come along to these sessions. It will give you the opportunity to ask questions of the staff and also of other students who may have completed a course that you are interested in and generally find out more about the College and what it has to offer you.
Even if you have had no experience using Zoom, that's ok - we all had to learn somewhere too (and I promise not all of us are fantastic at using it still). All you need is a computer / smart phone / tablet and an internet connection. Connect to the calls via the links on our website and we can guide you through what to do once you sign in. We also have some cheat sheets on our website here, these are a really handy reference tool.
Look forward to seeing you all again soon either in person or virtually!! Happy Wednesday :)
